By Barry Eichner, Spa Industry Expert
One of the hottest on going spa trends is education; it’s one of the most important aspects of any industry. Ensuring that a spa product is being used properly and to its fullest potential is crucial in the success of any product or service. This year at the Las Vegas International Esthetics, Cosmetics and Spa Conference [IECSC] we were so proud of our SpaTrends Partners. A quick review of the list of conference educators quickly showed that the SpaTrends partners dominated the program.
Attending and participating in trade shows such, as the IECSC is a big commitment, both on the part of the exhibitors and the attendees. In the new millennium with so much information available at our finger tips via the information super highway, often times the question of why invest in a trade show is asked. Our SpaTrends answer is Communication and Education. Having the opportunity to engage in dialogue about products, services and equipment is invaluable.
Many of our SpaTrends Vendor Partners took advantage of the IECSC education agenda to spend time talking to potential and current clients about topics in the skincare industry and how their products and services could help their customers grow and enhance their business.

Many of the classes that are offered at the IECSC are included with your pass, and if you’d like to invest into training and education you can take part in some of the additional classes that are offered. It’s an ideal opportunity to focus on your ongoing business. You can plan what product lines you will carry, what treatments you will offer in your spa and what equipment you will use. The IECSC is the perfect one-stop-shop to meet vendors and get training on their products and equipment so you can offer a higher level of service to your spa clients.
We reached out to a few of the educators to talk about their classes and get an idea of what they’re most passionate about.
Kat from DermaQuest told us that she was the most passionate about teaching attendees about how skincare is different for women in different age groups.
Trish from Eve Taylor North America talked to us about essential oils and how an esthetician can create a customized ritual for every client that will help them meet their skincare goals.
Dasha from Saian Natural Skincare showcased their Acne Treatment to a group of estheticians who were on the edge of their seats. Dasha was able to explain the steps of the treatment and was very open to answering questions from all attendees.
The always-gregarious Boldijarre of Éminence Organic Skin Care taught numerous classes, each one was an exciting atmosphere that made learning about skincare and organic products a true joy for everyone who attended!
Lydia from Repêchage has been leading the way in training with her work at the IECSC and CIDESCO. Lydia taught several classes this year.
GlyMed Plus / Advanced Aesthetics, Inc. spoke to several standing room only classes! Proving that advanced clinical skincare treatments are continuing to dominate the industry.
Sonia from Bio Jouvance spoke to classrooms filled to capacity on one of the hottest new skincare treatments – Microneedling. We asked Sonia why she loves Microneedling so much, “I see Microneedling as the future of the beauty industry and is affordable and available to anyone. ” We asked Sonia who she loves to educate on Microneedling? She told us, “I want as many estheticians as possible to be able to offer a high quality treatment to as many clients as possible.”
The SpaTrends technology driven partners were on hand to offer classes to educate IECSC attendees on how day spas can integrate high end technology based products into their operations to improve customer service and set themselves apart from competition. LightStim and Celluma both offered classes on how LED Light Therapy can help clients improve their skin. While Canfield Imaging Systems led a class on how day spas can use their Visia and Reveal imaging systems to improve sales of products and services.
