History
In 1957 a woman in Japan asked her pharmacist to help her end the suffering caused by her dry, cracked skin. She was tired of using petroleum based products that were messy, greasy, and not effective. Her pharmacist was Yoshikiyo Nowatari, and he created, with the help of a chemist, a special formula that was vitamin enriched and glycerin based. Japanese families bought Yu-Be as an OTC medical product, and used it to treat everything from dry skin to eczema, from diaper rash to stretch marks. It is one of the longest selling, and most trusted skin care treatments in Japan.
International Expansion
For years, Yu-Be was an often asked for special gift from travelers to Japan. One Japanese-American businessman was constantly bringing back Yu-Be to his wife, Elena. Elena discovered Yu-Be at age 14 when living at her boarding school in Japan. There, the dormitory headmistress lectured on the virtues of moisturizing and caring for their skin with Yu-Be.
