Scientific Research by Bruce M. Freedman, MD, FACS
Signal Hill, CA – Hydradermabrasion effectively and safely improves skin quality by increasing its thickness, repairing the dermal matrix and delivering beneficial antioxidants. This is the conclusion reached by highly respected Board certified plastic surgeon Bruce Freedman, M.D., F.A.C.S., from his recent independent research. The study analyzed the histological and clinical changes associated with hydradermabrasion. Clinical improvements include better facial tone and texture, less dyschromia and fewer fine lines. “The procedure is ideally suited for those desiring non-ablative facial rejuvenation with minimal recovery” said Dr. Freedman. “Hydradermabrasion represents the next generation in non-ablative facial skin resurfacing, taking the place of traditional microdermabrasion”.
Dr. Freedman utilized the HydraFacial MD® hydradermabrasion system and HydroPeel® tips (Edge Systems), to exfoliate the skin and apply the antioxidant serum. HydraFacial™ treatments are non-invasive procedures that improve skin tone, color and texture, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, sunspots and sun damage.
Dramatic results from the study were documented using digital photographs, full thickness skin biopsies, Raman Scattering Spectroscopy and patient surveys. Those results include:
? Skin antioxidant levels retention was 30% two weeks after a 6-week series
? Epidermal thickness increased from 50 to 80 microns
? Papillary dermal thickness from 300 microns to 425 microns
? Increased fibroblast population
? Collagen hyalinization in the dermis
