SpaEquip, Inc., is pleased to announce the opening of its wholly-owned subsidiary in China, SpaEquip
(Shanghai) Co. Ltd. Based in Shanghai, the new company will sell SpaEquip’s complete line of
specialized equipment and supplies to spas throughout China. SpaEquip has been the preferred source
for prestigious resort spas in China for many years, and with this change can offer faster service and
better pricing to its Chinese customers.
“Our customers had been asking us to establish a presence in China for several years”, says Ed Johnson,
President of SpaEquip. “China continues to be a booming market for new hotel construction, and
has become the largest market for new spa equipment in the world. With China’s trade and currency
policies, we faced hurdles in the past. Now, with SpaEquip Shanghai Co. Ltd. we can import and sell
direct, issue Fapiao (official invoices), and offer better service with lower prices to our customers there.
“While continuing to import best-in-class products from other parts of the world into China, our
expanded presence will also allow us to source more outstanding China-made products and offer them
to our customers worldwide.”
Heading the Shanghai venture is Michael Gao, as General Manager. He has worked previously for
Shanghai Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceuticals and Adidas Group Greater China, in capacities where
he was responsible for sales of imported products. Mr. Gao graduated from Wuhan University, School
of Economics and Management, with post-graduate studies at the Wharton School of Business in the
USA. Mr. Gao: “I am very excited to be part of SpaEquip, with its international reach and single source
capability for spas. I look forward to providing great customer service along with world-class products
to our customers in greater China. This industry has such great people – I am learning to love the world
of spa.”
