Rhonda Hunter of Rage Salons In Logan, UT Achieves National Recognition
Fort Myers, FL The National Aesthetic Spa Network (NASN) in Port St. Lucie, Florida, awards scholarships from industry businesses to spa professionals each year at their annual Palm Beach, Florida conference. Nailcare Academy of Fort Myers, FL, a top online nailcare and aesthetic education company, awarded their 2016 NASN Nail Technician Scholarship from their Medical Nail Tech Program to Rhonda Hunter of Rage Salons in Logan, UT.
Rhonda Hunter of Rage Salons: Hunter is looking forward to performing safe pedicures on the many chronically ill clients of her area. She noted, “No other nail technicians in our area are trained to work specifically with these types of special clients. I have encountered more and more chronically ill clients. With over 30 years of successful experience, I want to be certain to work safely with each of them. The Medical Nail Tech Program has trained me to successfully perform these specialty services.”
Janet McCormick of Nailcare Academy notes, “This advanced training program is becoming extremely important with the increase in the number of elderly and chronically ill people here in our country.” McCormick is co-founder and author of these programs. She adds, “Hunter will be trained to work safely on these clients and to provide the routine foot care they need to prevent complications in their health.”
McCormick shares, “Hunter is an experienced and committed professional nail technician who realizes that times have changed as have the clients who come into salons. The government and insurance companies are no longer reimbursing physicians and podiatrists for trimming toenails and routine care of their patients, so now they have to charge patients for this care. Despite their special needs, these clients are now going to nail salons, saying, ‘If I have to pay someone, my nails may as well be good looking when I’m finished.’ At the same time, these clients have special needs that most technicians are not trained to handle.”
Nailcare Academy Certifications: Nailcare Academy offers advanced certification programs in safe foot care. They have three available online training programs for nail technicians with the Advanced Nail Technician Program (ANT), the Footcare Nail Technician Program (FNT), and the Medical Nail Tech Program (MNT). The Advanced Nail Technician Program is designed for salon-based nail technicians. It is also designed to advance their knowledge and skills toward higher success through special aseptic techniques. The Footcare Nail Technician Program has been established to support the nail technician to a higher level of clinically safe care that will enable them to accept patient referrals from physicians and podiatrists. The Medical Nail Tech Program trains participants to work in medical settings performing safe, cosmetic hand and foot care.
Aside from the higher need for safety for the chronically ill; professional nail technicians who want to set themselves apart as certified specialists from the ordinary nailcare artists take these programs, implement the provided marketing techniques and immediately see an increase in their clientele. “Instead of competing with the rise of perceived ‘quick’ and ‘cheap’ and standard nailcare salons, they are able to provide much needed ‘aseptic’ and ‘Safe Salon’ services to a demographic that badly needs them. They often earn greater respect and more money, especially when they adjust their prices to reflect the higher quality of services. We are so pleased to further honor Rhonda Hunter’s career and wish her the very best in her new accomplishment,” says Nailcare Academy co-founder, Karen Hodges.
