Highlights from the West Coast Regional Salon
Summit:
PBA’s 2013 West Coast Regional Salon Summit was held
Sunday, July 14, 2013 during PBA Beauty Week at the Mandalay Bay Convention
Center in Las Vegas, NV. Attendees included beauty professionals from locations
across the U.S. and Canada. The day started off with a behind-the-scenes tour by
social media mogul Kelly Ehlers of the many social media platforms available to
industry professionals and how best to use them.
The Las Vegas event
marked the final RSS Living Life on the Edge, Where the Results Are seminar from
Matthew Fairfax, whose presentation followed Ehlers’ social media session.
Fairfax left the tour to move to Cambodia to work with his charity, the Justice
and Soul Foundation. This charity played a large part in Fairfax’s RSS session.
Fairfax’s session is replaced by Get Real About Your Business and Bottom Line,
featuring motivational speaker Julie Piantadosi. Piatadosi joins the RSS from
Australia and speaks to attendees about exploring the necessary steps to achieve
and maintain success, no matter what beginnings you come from.
PBA’s
Government Affairs Manager Bridget Sharpe and members of PBA’s Government
Affairs Committee and Salon and Spa Council Tiffany Conway and Oliver Steinnagel
lead a discussion on recent deregulation efforts by certain states, FICA Tax
Fairness legislation, and the PBA State Captain Program. As salon owners
themselves, Conway and Steinnagel were able to relate how these activities
affect to the bottom line of most salons.
The Summit was rounded out by
Tom Kuhn taking direction from his “Q Program” to coach participants on how to
grow their salon and spa business. In addition to the invigorating and
motivational sessions, attendees perused the latest in beauty on the Cosmoprof
North America show floor.
Price for PBA members is $119; non-PBA member price is $159. For more
