The Spa Connection
Aboard the historic Presidential Yacht, “High Spirits”,
Thursday June 14th, 2012! This year’s theme – Casino Royale!
San Diego, California – June 14, 2012
Co-founded by Dana Stallings (Spa Velia), Jim Croghan (The Grand Del Mar),
Joanne Berry (Bellus Academy) and Scott Duncan (Spa Gregories), the Spa
Connection has manifested into a collaboration of event hosting, philanthropic
efforts and support of spa industry professionals. Understanding that there is
enough business out there for everyone; The Spa Connection is dedicated to help,
bolster, mentor and support our counterparts to nurture a healthy and thriving
industry.
The annual Yacht Party set sail with a full to capacity boat of nationwide
‘crème de la crème” vendors showcasing products to qualified attendees from all
over Southern California and Arizona!
First time attendee Diane Trieste enthused, “”This was my first time
participating in the Spa Connection Yacht Event and I can’t wait for the next
one! The organization, professionalism and camaraderie was quite impressive. It
really makes for a good event when networking between vendors and operators is
seamless. Bravo!”
Spa industry veteran Kim Marshall of The Marshall Plan also had her first
experience onboard the annual Spa Connection Yacht Event. ““I remember about 5
years ago at ISPA, Deborah Szekely was talking about the need to build community
in the spa world; the need to have regional events so that industry members in
the same area could support each other. I knew there were little things going on
here and there since then, but when I walked on that Spa Connection yacht, I was
immediately struck by the size of the event and then the positive energy
everywhere. The camaraderie and spirit of collaboration was impossible to
ignore!”
Angela Cortright, former ISPA Board Member and Principal of Spa Gregories Spas
is a regular attendee enjoying all the Spa Connection events and adds “the Spa
Connection is one of the best Spa Professional Networking groups I have ever
participated in. The events and venues are always top quality, as are the
attendees. I enjoy being able to connect with old and new friends, share ideas,
meet new vendors – I have found some very interesting products thanks to the Spa
Connection’s quality showcases. Can’t wait for the next event!!!”
“The Spa Connection is a great way for vendors to connect to existing clients
and to learn more about potential new clients. This recent event was a fun and
relaxed way to interact with customers. I was impressed by such a great turn
out! I really appreciated that all the guests stopped by to visit with the
vendors to increase awareness about products and services we offer that can help
them with growing their businesses. I found the event to be a great return on
investment and look forward to attending future events. The Spa Connection folks
were easy to work with and responsive to my needs as a vendor.” Teddy D. Lester,
Vice President, Universal Companies, Inc.
High Spirits has an impressive pedigree: Designed by world-renowned yachtsman
John Trumpy, this teak and mahogany sloop was built in 1929 and features
exquisite antique furniture and detailing, including some classic appointments
from the Prohibition Era. She was originally constructed as a sister ship to
President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s presidential yacht, Sequoia. Today, she has
been meticulously restored and is considered one of the finest antique yachts
available for charter on the west coast. Additionally, Linda McCartney
photographed the Rolling Stones in 1966 as they sailed Manhattans Hudson River!
