USA-Made Healthy Skincare Clothing Line Offers Winter Styles for Travel and Daily Wear
ORANGE COUNTY, CA (November 11, 2015) – Snowbirds looking for fun in the sun this winter won’t feel the burn in SPF Addicts’ eco-friendly line of UPF 50+ sophisticated clothing. SPF Addict, manufacturer of high-quality, California-made sun protective clothing for women and men, protects winter skin with simple tips to keep skin safe this winter.
“Even during winter, daily sun protection is essential,” says Marina Arnold, R.N., president of SPF Addict. She continues, “Those traveling to warm climates or the snow need to be extra cautious of exposing sensitive winter skin. Traditional shirts only offer a UPF rating of five, whereas our garments offer UPF 50+ while being soft and feminine.”
Winter Sun Myths –
1. I don’t need sun protection during the winter – False, although the sun’s UV rays are strongest during the summer months, winter sun is just as damaging. Those playing in the snow or traveling to warm destinations need to be aware of indirect/reflected rays which “bounce” off white surfaces – including snow, ice, sand, water, concrete and mirror/glass buildings.
2. You can’t get burned on a cloudy day. False. Cloud’s filter UV levels, but do not block them completely. Even on cloudy days, sun protection is necessary.
3. I only get burned at the beach/pool. False. The sun doesn’t take a break, nor does UV rays. Car windows, office building windows, lunchtime walks, hikes… all expose the body to harmful UV rays.
4. I need to get a tan for Vitamin D absorption while on vacation. False. Tanning is the equivalent of overcooking a meal. A few minutes of healthy sun exposure daily is all that is necessary.
5. All clothes block UV rays. True/False. Sun protection for skin is rated as SPF (such as sunscreen lotions), whereas for clothing it is UPF (Ultraviolet Protection Factor). The average shirt only offers a UPF rating of 5-10, SPF Addict’s clothing is independently tested to offer a UPF 50+ (the highest rating) even after 40 chlorinated washings. SPF Addict clothing is made from Tencel Sun fabric which is woven tightly and absorbs the sun’s harmful rays – without using chemicals. This is why the UPF rating doesn’t washout of SPF Addict garments.
