Monica McGregor (above), a graduate of Xenon International Academy in Wichita, KS is a recent recipient of a $1,000 scholarship from Society of Dermatology Skincare Specialists (SDSS) through the National Coalition of Estheticians, Manufacturers/Distributors & Associations (NCEA) Scholarship Program.
Monica’s academic performance and dedication gave her a definite edge for the scholarship. In addition to beginning her career in esthetics, Monica will continue her education to broaden career opportunities. Her commitments to work and school schedules are complimented by her athletic interests, such as belly dancing and kick-boxing. Monica’s goals include holistic skin care and an eventual move to the Pacific Northwest.
Esthetician students are eligible to receive a $1,000 scholarship while attending an AACS member school. These incentive scholarships will be awarded to students that demonstrate good performance in school as well as financial need. Financial need will be determined by a short written explanation of the applicant’s situation and their desire to receive the scholarship. Applicants must have reached at least the mid-point of their training and maintained at least 80% attendance and 80% grade average. A selection committee comprised of NCEA members will review all applications that meet the basic requirements to be verified by the student’s school. There will be a limit of one scholarship recipient chosen from an individual school each year.
