Easy In Easy Out Techniques: Colletti shares, “Our hair extension classes are typically a very fun environment. I’ll simply show the hairstylists the line, apply them to a model and let the hairstylists get hands on experience. I make sure when I leave a salon everyone is confident in using our system!” Classes are generally two hours long, with thirty minute application time and removal time. With the liquid tape and clip on extension lines, you don’t have to stand there for hours gluing as with a bonded method. Colletti says, “Not only is that method often damaging to the hair, it takes hours to apply, which runs up the cost. With our method, it’s easy in and easy out.”
Colletti shares that the Thicken It line is truly different from any hair extensions she has used in the past. “The hair quality is simply amazing. The extensions contain no latex. What makes this extension line different is that we do not use a sandwich method as other lines do. In a sandwich method you take a very thin section of hair and put a taped extension beneath and another on top. The human hair becomes the filling in the sandwich. What that does is cause extra weight on the hair. Most people who have extensions applied want volume; yet now you’re putting undue weight on the hair, causing breakage. The worst thing is that when they are not properly installed; they collect products residue, natural oils and dead skin. They can grow mold and they create an odor!”
When traditional extensions are removed, often a large amount hair also comes out from the roots. The Thicken It method is completely reversed, supporting the hair on both top and bottom. With this application there is no undue weight on the hair. Colletti says, “It is the most healthy application method for the hair that I am aware of. When you remove the extensions using the all natural lanolin and citrus oil remover, they come out easily. It is the least damaging system on the market for hair extensions. You can even take them out and put in a new set all in the same day! You can also use the line with our liquid tape, which gives it an even longer hold time.

Colletti shares, “Some hair designers will just use one package, which is five pieces of hair or up to three packages for 15 pieces. We can use a piece on each side just to add that extra fullness or length. You can use one package just to make your hair more voluminous. The younger clients tend to want length. Client Consultations: Colletti relays that approaching the topic of thinning hair often comes up naturally, as clients will present her with their haircare concerns. “A client may say she has to keep the top of her hair long because you can see through it, that she has to wear bangs because her temple area is so thin, or she may want to grow her hair out but the sides are not growing.” Colletti always begins with a consultation. It is important to prepare clients for any drawbacks to extensions, such as the cost. “Clients are always excited about getting the extensions and love the idea of it. Yet they will need to have maintenance every two to three months. Clients just need to be made aware of what the upkeep will entail, because once they have the extensions in, they will not want to go without them!”
Truly Seamless: Colletti concludes, “The thing about our line that is different is that with most extensions lines you can see the weft. The weft is the piece of hair which is sewn on the top and it usually creates a lump that is visible. Our extensions are not sewn; they are individual tiny hairs on a transparent tape. They are so flat that when you put the extensions in and rub your hand down your scalp, you cannot detect them. They are called truly seamless because they absolutely do not have a seam. No one knows you have them in! You don’t have to worry about how the extensions are going to hold up. The ease of use and cost factor are great; it’s a wonderful product for the money and I believe in it 100%!”
